I f you are reading this, it must mean that I am addressing you as the new president of the Opticians Association of America (OAA). Due to the deadline for our magazine, I am writing this a few weeks before the election. Being very superstitious, I was reluctant to jump the gun and possibly jinx my chances for election. My editor assured me since I was running unopposed, my chances were pretty good, so I put pen to paper. If he was wrong, I hope you are enjoying this repeat column, the "Best of Tom Barracato" by the former OAA president. I am honored to be elected to serve as president of an organization that has been a big part of my life for over 15 years. I pledge to continue the good work of the OAA to the best of my ability. My style is to put the best people in the right positions to work on projects they are passionate about. We have no shortage of those folks at OAA. You can read more about those projects in an article in this issue by executive director Chris Allen and me. I would love to hear from opticians about things that are important to you. Your passion may be a future project. Please know there is a place for you at OAA to help strengthen our profession. Again, thanks for your confidence and I will try not to let you down. Bob Reynolds is OAA's president. L E T T E R F R O M T H E P R E S I D E N T 5 -10.00D TO -0.50D +0.50D TO +6.00D NOW AVAILABLE: PLUS POWERS!
