A s I begin to write this, I realize I am feeling a little melancholy. This will be my last president's article for the American Optician. By the next edition in November, I will have transitioned to the position of past president on the board of the Opticians Association of America. The past two years have flown by. It seems like just yesterday that I was sworn in for my first term. I remember how I felt at that timeā€¦ excited, scared and humbled about sums it up. How would I measure up? How could I make a difference? What would I accomplish? I feel blessed and privileged to have been able to serve with so many wonderful leaders. I learned so much in such a short period of time. Together we got stronger, and I think through our passion for our members and for our profession, we may just have moved the needle forward a little. The Opticians Association of America is a strong national organization, and I am extremely proud of where we are today. I look forward to my new chapter as I continue to serve as past president. I am especially excited about the future of the OAA as the next generation of dedicated individuals take the helm. I want to thank all of you for the support, belief and faith you have shown me throughout my term. We are all in this profession of opticianry together! We will continue to make a difference! Sandy Brown is the president of the Opticians Association of America. L E T T E R F R O M T H E P R E S I D E N T 5 E V A T I K . C O M EVERYTHING STARTS WITH A VISION
