S ummer is just around the corner and that means the time for the Southeastern Opticians Conference in Atlanta, GA, is rapidly approaching. The conference will be July 14 to July 16 at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia. If you would like to join us, please contact the Opticians Association of America (OAA). The Southeastern Opticians Conference is a regional continuing education meeting presented by the OA A. Classes are submitted for approval to participating states including Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida. Due to their success in previous years, there will be hands- on workshops on Friday plus ABO and NCLE review classes on Saturday and Sunday. Also available will be a course in Georgia law as it pertains to opticianry which is now a requirement of all Georgia opticians. As a special treat, three of the speakers are also sisters from a family of opticians: Jackie O'Keefe, Candace O'Keefe Culp, and Laurie O'Keefe Pierce will each be presenting individually, but they have also developed a course that they will present together before the luncheon on Saturday. That is a rare opportunity not to be missed. Another great aspect of this conference is the networking and social opportunities you have with others in the profession. Bob Reynolds is OAA's Vice President. 8 E D U C AT I O N Calling all Southeastern Opticians!
