I t is hard to believe that 2017 is almost halfway over! We here at the Opticians Association of America (OAA) have been hard at work this year addressing our top focus areas of communication, legislation and education. Here are just a few highlights of what your national organization has been up to. Marketing and branding the American optician continues to be one of our top priorities. In the last year and a half, OAA has a variety of huge successes. Read about them here . OAA has embarked on the journey to rebuild our website, working with our corporate partner, iMatrix. The site is becoming the hub of all important opticianry information and will help maximize the effectiveness of our message and assist more members. Please visit us and see for yourself at OAA.org . We continue to collaborate with our official media partner First Vision Media Group to reinforce OAA's place in the optical community, including the publication of inspiring monthly advertisements in Vision Care Product News . The OAA has become an advisory organization to the Federal Trade Commission based on the comments we provided regarding the Contact Lens Rule. We are working with the FTC to keep the PD measurement from becoming a required part of the patient's prescription. We will continue our hard work throughout the rest of the year and we look forward to seeing you at OptiCon October 6 to October 8 at Walt Disney World in Orlando ! Thank you for your support! HydraLuxe ™ Technology: Tear-infused design An enhanced network of tear-like molecules and highly breathable hydrated silicone integrates with your patients' tear fi lm each day. I know Emma's day full of activities creates environmental shifts that can destabilize her tear fi lm. So for Emma, I reach for the lens with a tear-infused design that mimics mucins to help support a stable tear fi lm. That's why I prescribe NEW ACUVUE OASYS ® Brand Contact Lenses with HydraLuxe ™ Technology. ACUVUE ® Brand Contact Lenses are indicated for vision correction. As with any contact lens, eye problems, including corneal ulcers, can develop. Some wearers may experience mild irritation, itching or discomfort. Lenses should not be prescribed if patients have any eye infection, or experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, redness or other eye problems. Consult the package insert for complete information. Complete information is also available by visiting acuvueprofessional.com or by calling 1-800-843-2020.
