I n this year's first edition of the American Optician, I would like to highlight a few things we have been hard at work on at the Opticians Association of America (OAA). We just hosted our 32 nd Annual Leadership Conference in beautiful Savannah, Georgia. What an awesome conference! The conference is the premier networking event of the year and this year certainly did not disappoint! The seventh Opticianry Collaboration Forum was held during the Leadership Conference. Participants from ten of the most prominent optical organizations continued focusing on topics impacting the entire industry. The group meets twice per year and conducts committee meetings prior to each forum. There are currently five initiatives: 1. Facilitating regular communication between all organizations 2. Formal education access 3. Opticianry career ladder 4. Helping America See 5. Mobility of opticians The Marketing/Branding Committee has been hard at work as usual. We now have two awesome videos for the "What is an Optician" campaign—a 90-second version and a 30-second PSA . Please utilize them to help America see who we are and what we do! Also, please don't forget to visit, like and share the OAA Facebook page ! Keep up with what is going on in your profession. You can also click on SHOP NOW and show your pride by purchasing items from the retailer Lands' End with our nationally recognized logo, "Opticians Helping America See." Thank you so much for your support!
