Your success and life are so important that you must surround yourself with a positive support team." GAME PLAN With all of the pieces in place, it is time to set up your game plan. This involves making a decision about what type of team you want to field. Will you be that scrappy little team that plays small ball or the team that goes for the homerun on every swing? Or do you prefer to be the balanced team that can play small ball when they want but like to see the occasional homerun? Once you've made your plan, staff your team, equip them, and coach them in the right direction. POST GAME INTERVIEW I personally try to never refer to my staff as "my employees," especially in front of someone on my sales floor. They know who signs their checks. There is no need for me to lord it over them. If there is ever an issue with insubordination, I deal with it individually in private. I treat my staff members as my peers. It is in this manner that I try to be their leader; not their boss. Gen. Colin Powell once said, "Leadership is solving problems. The day the soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded that you do not care.
